Ted is on probation

We were able to tackle 30.5 miles over four hikes in the month of January. A long way to go towards 52 hikes and 364 miles, but we are making progress. I'll start with the most recent, West Tiger #1 because it explains the title of this blog post.

Tiger Mountain, West Tiger #1

We try to alternate who picks and this hike was Ted's pick. He is now put on probation as a result. Ted said, "how could summiting a mountain be bad?" He know admits he was wrong and has self proclaimed his probation. Let's just say this 10.29 miles was NOT worth it, even if the photos look like we had fun... we really didn't. The terrain was rocky, muddy and not a waterfall, creek, lake or view insight. The last two photos were the summit.. not cool West Tiger #1, not cool.

Warren G. Magnuson Park Loop

Magnuson Park is along Lake Washington in the Sand Point neighborhood. Since it was a rainy 45 degree Sunday and no Packers, Badgers or anything else to do... we decided to check out a neighborhood brewery, Ravenna Brewing Company that we've been meaning to visit. Yep... counting the 2+ miles.

Hex Mountain

Sooo, now you know why Ted was put on probation. With hikes like Hex Mountain, West Tiger #1 which includes a stop at Poo Poo Point is just that. Poo Poo. Anyways, back to this beautiful hike with amazing views!

Hex Mountain Trail head was about two hours southeast of us and recent trail reports said the parking lot (which held maybe 10 cars) and off street highway parking was typically full by 8:30am, which meant an early morning departure. On our ascent, we passed approximately 10 people who were on their down, with another 10 or so at the summit when we arrived. Let's just say we passed 50+ on our descent and thankful we arrived early. Hex Mountain is about 8 miles round trip and 2,631 foot elevation gain, and we could not have asked for a better day, sun, not a cloud in the sky, no wind.

P.S. this was an Erin selected hike, not that anyone is counting....
