The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta took us to New Mexico! And an opportunity to cross off National Park number thirty-six, White Sands!
About 3 hours south of Albuquerque, Alamogordo is home to Holloman Air Force Base, White Sands National Park, the birthplace of Smokey the Bear, and pistachios!
The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta had been on the travel list for quite some time and 2023 seemed like the year to take flight! Unfortunately, our sunrise hot air balloon ride was scheduled for Thursday, the one windy day out of the 14-day festival. Oy. Regardless we were able to take in the views, soak in the sun, sample the local flavors, and participate in the balloon fiesta in a different and awe-inspiring way.
