Lookout Mountain

The third week of May brought our third visitor for the month, new restaurants in the Ballard neighborhood and a cool 8 mile hike that showcased views of Mount Baker, San Juan Islands, and though a little hazy, the Olympic Mountains.

Last week brought in my brother Charlie into town for work and he was able to spend the weekend with us. This gave us another opportunity to try some new places and show off our new city. Get ready this blog entry is written by Ted... buckle your seat belts because your going to get 10 words when 5 will do.

We got the weekend started with some beers beach side at West Seattle Brewery. Beautiful Friday afternoon looking over the Olympic Mountain range. After that we head back home to pick up Erin and headed off to Rueben's Barrel House, Big Mario's pizza, and Bad Jimmy's - it was a great night!

On Saturday we got an easy start to our Saturday with donuts and coffee on our way to the Mt. Baker area to hike Lookout Mountain. It was a really nice hike, reminded me of Redwoods National Park... it is always fun to think that you are the on the planet of "Endor"... Star Wars geeks will get this reference. The hike was supposed to have a summit with great views but it did not... however we had amazing views of Mt. Baker and its supporting mountains on one side of Lookout Mountain. On the other side of Lookout Mountain there was a sitting area with excellent views of the Olympic Mountain range, Puget Sound, and the San Juan Islands.

After a great day of hiking we decided to head out and take our chances for dinner without making reservation... I know in this environment of only 50% capacity we were taking out chances. It worked! We sat down at a beer bar called Noble Fir that we were waiting to try just when Percy's the restaurant we were on the waiting list for called and our table was ready... Bring on the fried chicken!!!! My favorite. We had a great dinner at Percy's, a trendy spot with great energy, good craft cocktails and yes fried chicken!

All in all a nice weekend with family!
