FINDERS KEEPERS: Starck's - Zero, Lincoln City - One
In days gone by, treasure hunters searching Oregon’s coastline would find treasures from the East—blown glass Japanese fishing floats in gleaming shades of green and blue. These floats were used to float fishing nets and ranged in size from two inches to two feet. They were collected, admired, polished and the ultimate find for a dedicated beachcomber.
So... thanks to some amazing Facebook ad's we took a weekend trip down to Lincoln City to try our luck and search for some of these amazing glass floats during one of there special drops.
With 15 miles walked over two days we left empty handed, but we definitely gave it our best shot. We ran into a few other Washingtonians in search of the float ferries treasures and we all agreed that the Facebook campaign worked - because it got all of us to take the trip down the coast and stay in a town we've never heard of before!
Though we left empty handed, we searched for Whales on Lincoln Beach (where the whales get so close to shore in the summer that you can hear their sprout/breath - per the sign), watched the waves crash the bluffs and searched for sea glass, starfish and sea urchins in the tide pools. Oh an a new brewery or two...
Your stellar writing invites us all to share in your travels and wish to be at that location ourselves. Thank you
